Hi! I’m Genevieve, a sewing teacher.
Having studied fashion, I believe that sewing isn’t outdated, but instead modern and creative. It’s the perfect hobby for a generation who crave expressive, individual style. Sewing is a space to slow down, create and express who you uniquely are. Sewing isn’t about being perfect, it’s about loving the process and making something special. It’s a doorway to meeting talented people, making friends and experiencing the delight of wearing your own creations.
Many of us would love to learn how to sew, take our garment making skills to the next level, or really hone in on a particular skill.
But knowing where to begin, or the thought of trying to do it on our own, is daunting.
That is why I started Sew Genevieve.
Besides my personal obsession with making my world a little bit more homemade, I love passing on my passion of sewing through teaching.
I teach beginner, intermediate and project-based lessons.

Definitely, I start from the absolute beginning and assume you know nothing. You have nothing to prove!
No, you are welcome to use my sewing machines.
Absolutely, I have a great deal of experience with various machines and I can certainly advise you on which machine will best suit your level and needs.
If you own your own sewing machine, please bring that along as well as you a notepad and pen.
I offer evening, weekend and afternoon classes. Once your course has been purchased, I will be in touch to arrange lesson times that suit your schedule.
My studio is at my home in Pinelands and has off street parking behind a secure gate.
Please give me 24 hours notice if you know you cannot make your scheduled lesson and we can reschedule. If you are unable to attend due to an unforeseen event, there is a R100 rescheduling fee.
Most of my clients come once a week, however, if you have more availability, you are welcome to come more often (depending on my availability).
I keep my classes small so I can give my students the attention they need. There will be no more than two students in a class.
You have nothing to be nervous about, I’m really patient and it’s my job to help you. I have no expectations!
I don’t teach clients younger than 7 and I have no age limit!
